The 1940s book, ‘Curiosities of Town and Countryside’ by Edmund Vale is a compendium of some of the most intriguing landmarks, monuments and artefacts to be found in the towns and countryside of Britain.
I’ve always believed that such curiosities and their associated stories make a huge contribution to somewhere’s sense of place and the joy of discovering them has always played a huge part in my own well-being. For me, seeking out a bit of magic and mystery amidst the mundane is more important now than ever.
